Problem typing in PW in command prompt

I am trying to reindex my database.

When at the command prompt for the PW, when i type the password, the cursor doesnt move and I get the following: password authentication failed for user

Any clues to this?

The cursor won't move as you type the password - you just have to type carefully.
Are you sure you're entering the correct password?
Default is dbpass, as I guess you're aware.

i have my own pw, which i tried. I also used dbpass.

Do you just type directly or are quotes or anything else needed?

Also, If I have a corrupted db, can i export the hand histories and reimport to a new one, if this other method doesnt work?

You just type the password directly.

If you can't connect to your database, I'm not sure if/how you can export your hands. Don't you still have the original HH files in the 'processed' folder?

unfortunately no. I just loaded them into PT2, so that I can export from there and then save them and PT2 decided to go bonkers (on a different computer).
I have all but a few weeks of hands and may just get the rest from the sites.

I wonder wtf is going on with my password. It has always worked before

You may be able to see something in the postgres log files.
Have a look in:
C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log

If you can't interpret them, please zip and attach the last few to a support ticket and someone will help you.
