PT3 does work - you're just having trouble configuring postgres, which is an independent product.

Please follow all the steps in the uninstall instructions in this post CAREFULLY, and then run the PT3 WITH POSTGRES installer.
Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3

If you are using Vista, please make sure to run the installer as Administrator - right click the installer and select Run As Administrator before running it.

After I Installed PT3 for the firts time it works fine after reboot i get the "Unable to login to database (PT3 DB)" Error. I uninstalled PT3 and postgresSQL and installed new after the reboot i get the same Problem. After searching for a solution and trying with disabling UAC and logged in as Administrator(I have only one Account this must be the Admin account or??? I am the only user of the PC) it also didnt work. I have also searched for the .pid and deleted it.
When I want to install the postgresSQL with UAC disabled it cant start the services. It only works with UAC on???.
I also unload my F-Secure to be sure that it didnt make problems. After the 4th or 5th installation PT3 didnt installed the DB it only shows a window where i have to log in into the DB, but at this point i havent any postgresSQL installed. If I want to install the 8.7.2-1 or 8.3.3-2 version manually it comes to the Point when it want to start the services and then it says he cant start it (UAC on or off). Any help???
Didt know why PT3 suddenly wants me to log in, into a non existing DB.
At least i have to say that at the beginning i didnt remove the postgres with the "net user postgres /delete" command. I only use the Windows deinstaller and deletet the rest of the Folder manually. I also hadnt the SP1 installed but after the installing there are the same Problems. I have always started PT3 with right click and "Start as Administrator"

The postgres version included with PT3 now should work fine on Vista, so please follow the steps in the following post to completely uninstall and then reinstall the PT3 with postgres version.
Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3

Running as administrator is different to being logged in as Administrator. Right click the shortcut and select 'Run As Administrator'.
Setting software to run in administrator mode - Vista Users

As I understand it, you can either install with UAC turned off or by running the installer as administrator.

In the latest tries i have always uninstalled with the Guide in the cmd promt. But always when i start PT3 i get the following screen after the Intro ImageImage and it didnt accept any password i know.
If I want install postgre manual it cant start the service even if i have UAC on or off. Then it roll back and i have a bin(emty), lib and data folder in the Folder I want to install postgre but noting in ->Start->Programms so i cant restart the Service manually.
I have done that with the Administration right always before i started PT3.
As said the first times PT3 installed postgre normally but now i get only the picture.

The default password is dbpass.
You can remove the need for postgres passwords: How To: Remove PostgreSQL Password

What do you mean you don't have anything in the start menu? Did you delete something after the last install?

A reboot should do the job in this case, though.

Ok I found a way. I deinstalled my F-Secure, then i had to install manually 8.3.3-2 version of postgres. After clicking through the installion and not starting the Stack Builder it accepted the PW i have entered in the installation process. Tomorrow i will Test how it works after i had reinstalled my F-Secure
