Postgres Tuning

Postby pr1mo » Tue Dec 16, 2008 7:59 pm

In the FAQ you list application stack builder - tuning wizard as one method and then you list the advanced method of tweaking the .conf file - does the tuning wizard only do these updates? or should we run the tuning wizard and then do the advanced conf tweak because the tuning wizard also does other things?

The tuning wizard is in place of the manual changes to the configuration file. It does things slightly differently by automatically detecting various settings. I'm not sure exactly what the options are that it does, but you're welcome to try it and see how it works for you. I believe the manual changes will overwrite most if not all of the changes that the automated method does, though.
