Awesome. This graph shows I was running below expectation this month until the last hand.

Also, can you explain what hands your program ignores and what hands it calculates EV for?
  • E.g. do you calculate EV for hands that go to showdown but are not all in?
  • how about a hand where I'm heads up preflop, fold on the turn but my opponent shows his hole cards?
  • how does multi-street EV calculations work?

example hand: I flopped quad 4s got most of 70% money in on the turn and my opponent hit quad 5s on the river. What will this EV look like?

EDIT: I Just looked up my "quads over quads" beat and this hand is in PT3 (all-in on the river) but the hand does not appear in HoldemLuck. Is that a bug?

This graph makes it easy to see how bad a suckout was. Sweet.

I'll have a new version sometime later today that will log information on crashes.

It finds all hands where Hero was all in before the river against 1 or more villains.

    funkyj wrote:

  • No. Unless Hero is all in before the river and 2 or more players continue on a side pot. See bellow.

    funkyj wrote:

  • No.

  • Example:
You have $100 and bet $3 preflop. A short stack with $20 calls along with a $40 stacker. Pot is $9.
You bet $9 on the flop, both call. Pot is $36. Shorty has $8 left and the other guy has $28.
You move all in on the turn, both call. The main pot is $36 + $8 * 3 = $60 and there is a side pot of $40 I think.

The hand breaks down into 2 line entries on the graph and in the hands list. A 3 way pot of $60 with 3 players and a 2 way pot of $40 with 2 players. Each pot is calculated seperatly for expected and actual as you could win one pot and loose the other.

I just made up the example above so I may have got my numbers wrong. Hopefully, the program gets it right :) Each pot EV is calculated for the street the all in occured on. In this example, both pots are on the turn but say shorty had $10 only, the main pot would be calculated for the flop and the side pot for the turn.

Also note that if Hero is all in and the hand ends with 2 or more villains that do not go all in on the hand, you will still see an entry for this hand as Hero is all in on the main pot.

Yeah, like I said, only hands that Hero got all in before the river are calculated so this hand is ignored.

Re: New Application: HoldemLuck - New Version 0.1

    Postby alonalbert » Wed Dec 17, 2008 11:25 am

OK, new build is ready. Not too much new:
    • New Database Configuration dialog. Accessible via the File menu or at startup if HoldemLuck fails to configure itself from PT3 configuration.
    • Added simple log facility and some basic exception handling.
    • Added Version to binary and cleaned up some copyright issues.
    Download Link

This version shouldn't crash but it can throw exceptions which are caught and logged. If you get an exception, you will see a popup with a short message and a log file will be created in the install directory. I suspect some exceptions may be due to specific hands so in these cases, I also log the hand history and try to continue processing. In other cases, the exception is fatal and HoldemLuck will simply exit. You can either post the contents of the log file here or email me directly at alon.albert@spam-me-not-gmail.com (remove the "spam-me-not-" from the address.

If you are concerned about privacy, feel free to edit your screen name in the hand history before emailing me.

I haven't had a chance to look at tournaments but just thinking about it, it would be difficult to do any kind of ICM calculations but simple chip EV shouldn't be too difficult if not very meaningful.

One more thing, you probably noticed the outstanding artwork in the toolbar icons. If you are artistically inclined and feel like contributing, feel free to send me 16x16 BMP images for the toolbar buttons.

x errors and no graphs :-( Why?

Hmm, I see you're not US based. I'll take a wild guess here before I troubleshoot this further:
Does your country use a comma for a decimal seperator? One dollar is 1,00 rather than 1.00?
If so, I know what the problem is, otherwise, I'll send you a patched version that logs information that can help me.
