failed to acces database

Postby geomania » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:34 am

****excuse me for my english if is not perfect******

Hello, I come towards you to try to resolve a problem with the access to Postgres: After to have installed PT3 + postgres everything works indeed, but when I switch off the PC and I switch on again i can't have access in the database. I tried to uninstalled and reinstall the software but nothing makes for it.

I always obtain this message: "Unable to login to database(PT3 DB). Reason: server closed the connection unexpectedly. This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request."
I have just change my software "pack security" and i think it can be for this reason. It's the pack "F-secure"; Can you help me please.

Try rebooting your computer first; a bunch of people who have seen this error message have had it resolved by rebooting the system.

reboot my pc do nothing, but i have found a temporary solution, before launch PT3 i have to go in "démarrer-->programme-->PostgreSQL 8.3-->Stop service" and after all is ok. Then i think the service is launch with the switch on. And i would like to know how i can cancel this.

Thanks for posting your workaround; at the moment PT3 attempts to start PostgreSQL automatically and it isn't something you can turn off, however I've notified the appropriate person to look into whether or not that particular function isn't working right for some people so that it can get fixed for a future version.
