Did it also give you a message about setting your screen name?

yes, but then it died, saying that a fatal error had occured

I fixed the crash (will post new build later) but meanwhile, set your screen name like it asks.

Sorry (IDK why but it didn't register on me that i needed to change something in PT3 from the message in HLv0.9) - it works fine now, thank you very much for explaining!

As i expected, I am running like dog do (4.5 buyins below equity in a little more than 2k hands)!

Bug: hand with side pot

Postby timekill » Sat Dec 27, 2008 12:37 pm

It appears that there's a bug in calculating expected and actual for a hand with side pot.

Here is the hand history:

Full Tilt Poker Game #9710531193: Table Davis (6 max) - $0.05/$0.10 - No Limit Hold'em - 9:38:41 ET - 2008/12/27
Seat 1: krasser17 ($9.20)
Seat 2: Luca Pacioli ($7.70)
Seat 3: BigJoint85 ($0.15)
Seat 4: inna3145 ($9.25)
Seat 5: timekill ($10.70)
Seat 6: d1m125 ($9.05)
krasser17 posts the small blind of $0.05
Luca Pacioli posts the big blind of $0.10
The button is in seat #6
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to timekill [Kd Qd]
BigJoint85 has 15 seconds left to act
BigJoint85 raises to $0.15, and is all in
inna3145 calls $0.15
timekill has 15 seconds left to act
timekill raises to $0.75
d1m125 folds
krasser17 folds
Luca Pacioli folds
inna3145 calls $0.60
*** FLOP *** [8d 4d 9s]
inna3145 checks
timekill checks
*** TURN *** [8d 4d 9s] [5c]
inna3145 checks
timekill checks
*** RIVER *** [8d 4d 9s 5c] [8c]
inna3145 checks
timekill checks
*** SHOW DOWN ***
timekill shows [Kd Qd] a pair of Eights
inna3145 shows [As 3s] a pair of Eights
inna3145 wins the side pot ($1.10) with a pair of Eights
BigJoint85 shows [7s 9h] two pair, Nines and Eights
BigJoint85 wins the main pot ($0.55) with two pair, Nines and Eights
timekill adds $0.05
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $1.80 Main pot $0.60. Side pot $1.20. | Rake $0.15
Board: [8d 4d 9s 5c 8c]
Seat 1: krasser17 (small blind) folded before the Flop
Seat 2: Luca Pacioli (big blind) folded before the Flop
Seat 3: BigJoint85 showed [7s 9h] and won ($0.55) with two pair, Nines and Eights
Seat 4: inna3145 showed [As 3s] and won ($1.10) with a pair of Eights
Seat 5: timekill showed [Kd Qd] and lost with a pair of Eights
Seat 6: d1m125 (button) didn't bet (folded)

And here is what HoldemLuck v0.9 shows:

Obviously there is something wrong the equite, expected and actual of the last row.

I'll let alon respond also, but to me it looks like that last line shouldn't change anything. You checked it down with that guy, so the pot wasn't resolved until the river, at which point it was certain you'd lose vs him. Your equity on the river is zero, the expected value is zero, and you made nothing from the hand. It won't affect your luck positively or negatively for sure, and the side pot that you were all in for your equity and luck was calculated properly.

I'm not sure how else the program is supposed to calculate it.

You are correct. The side pot has no consequence. In fact, the next build will have pots like these (checked down or all in on the river) ignored completely and they will not appear in the application.

The main pot looks fine also.

Ok, my equity at river sure is zero but if the (side) pot is $1.10, how can the expected value be -$9.10? How can the actual value be -$9.10 if I only had $0.75 in the pot?

That's because of a bug in the app, yes. The pot should just be ignored. Next version will fix that.

Hey,

1) Would it be possible to show the date and time in operating system local timezone and in 24 hour mode also? Currently it's pretty hard to follow the hand dates as they do not reflect the local time and are in 12 hour mode without AM/PM letters. So Todays filter might show some hands or might not, depends on the time of day.

2) Would it be possible to show the hand that I have selected in the hands tab as a red dot in the graph so it would be easier to quickly see how the graph progresses since that hand. I could then use this feature as a "session filter".

Thanks!

Yeah, I should be able to do that.

I tried to get that to work at some point but I need to figure out how to display stuff on the graph since it's a third party component.

I LOVE this app and I thank you for it from the bottom of my heart. :)

My question concerns the number of hands HoldEmLuck says I played versus the number of hands PT3 has.

PT3 says I've played 3,872 cash hands on FTP, but my HEL graph says "71 Allin hands out of 9418 played". Is there something I'm missing?

I'm seeing something similar with SNGLuck, btw: 26,149 hands according to PT3 but the graph refers to "1195 allin hands out of 81,125 played".

Could the other hands be ones that I've 'datamined' by railing friends, etc.?

I also have a request, if it's not too much trouble: could you create a filter according to EV? For example, I'd like to track how I've done in races (say 45%-55% equity). It's where I believe I am particularly unlucky. :-P
