Multiple databases - multiple poker rooms

Postby Mentalog » Mon Dec 29, 2008 10:51 am

Hi,

I want to use separate databases for each poker rooms where I play.
Currently I can set the database globally, so I have to change the settings when I want to play in other poker rooms.
Is it possible to set an own database for each poker rooms AND the settings remains active only for that room?
(So it doesn't change the settings for another poker rooms.)
I'm using PT3 beta 23.

Thanks.

With the PT3 system that can filter out results in a powerful fashion and alias together your screen names, this is no longer really necessary. But it is most definitely possible.

First you need to create multiple databases - Database --> Database Management --> New to create a new database, naming each database in a way that is useful for remembering what is on that database.

On the auto-import tab, click on the first site you play at, and look at the Preferences tab on the right. Unlock the "Import Played/Observed Hands" drop downs if necessary, and choose whatever database you'd like to have the hands import to. Repeat for each site you play on. Then the hands will be imported to the databases you have chosen.

I did what you said. (I had done it before and double checked it.) But my problem still remains.
I write step by step what I did:
0, choose auto import tab.
1, choose a poker room.
2, unlock the database settings at preferences tab on the right
3, set both database to the one I want to use.
4, click on an other poker room.
5, and the settings are changed here to the database I set at #3. Which I don't want.

No matter how I try, it looks like database settings remains global to me, so I can't use separate databases automatically.
My opinion is:
- these settings are not work correctly
OR
- the display of the settings are not refreshed so it shows the wrong database.
Either way I think this has to be corrected.

I'll look into it, but I'd like to reiterate: PT3 is a very powerful system and the databases are capable of sustaining very large numbers of hands (we've seen databases of upwards of 50 million hands), so you shouldn't need to do this any longer. You can alias your screen names together and all of your data will be in one central location.

That said, I'll see what I can find out for you.
