PT Postgresql error 999 SQL State IM002

Postby adamw005 » Mon Dec 29, 2008 9:12 pm

I was getting the error 101-SQLSTATE = 08001 every time I tried to open up PT2. I tried using the 'Start Service' but in would never open. Tried restarting several times, but that didn't help. So I uninstalled Postgre(8.2) and installed 8.3. There was some 'unfatal error' when installing it, but it finished installing anyway. Then when trying to open PT2 I got error 999 SQL State IM002 Microsoft OBDC Driver Manager Data source name not found and no default driver specified. I tried unstinalling 8.3 and reinstalling it again, this time with no error msg, but it's still bringing up the same error. Please help

Thanks,
Adam

You posted this in the PT3 section of the forums. I'm moving it to the PTv2 forums so that Pat can help you out.

You can't just delete the old version of PostgreSQL and install a new version and expect it to work. Your database is still an 8.2 database. You need to uninstall PostgreSQL 8.3 and reinstall 8.2. When you get to the window that has "Initialize Database Cluster" at the top left of the window, UNCHECK THAT BOX and click the next button. This will cause it to try to reuse your old data files, which are hopefully still on your hard drive.

Ok I did this, now I'm back to the original 08001 error and the Start Service isn't working

Go to the c:\program files\postgresql\8.2\data folder and delete the file there called postmaster.pid then try to restart the service.

I am also getting this message after trying to install PokerEV software.

999 - SQLSTATE = IM002
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

Any suggestions Pat?

Thanks

Had you been using PostgreSQL without any problems before installing this other software?
When do you get this error? When you open PT?

Yes, I have a very large database on QL and the error was right when I opened PT. Hud still works so I know its in there somewhere.
