hey, app seems great, gonna try it as soon as i get home. BTW, is the rake for PokerStars working for this new (0.11) version? Or it is still FullTilt only?

cool :) just ran from some hands I had backed up here.. works like a charm

one thing.. does it use the active PT3 database? if I have multiple PT3 databases is it possible to choose which database I want to use?

also, does it select the HERO from PT3 settings as well? What about site?
If I happen to use the same database for 2 sites, lets say Full Tilt and Poker Stars and I have different screen names on these sites how the program is going to manage that?

And If I have interest in tracking data from 2 accounts from the same site that was imported into the same database, let's say me and my wife playing on PokerStars. Will the program merge the data from both heros? Will it use only the hero configured at PT3, and in that case, if I want to see the data from the other hero I need to open PT3 and switch the default player?

sorry about hammering you with questions.. your app seems so great :)

You can set the settings in HoldemLuck by clicking File --> Settings. I believe it can only work with one database at a time, and you'd set the one you want to use there. Since I'm pretty sure I never set my screenname in HoldemLuck I think it grabs from the PT3 settings file, but I could be wrong about that.

If you've got more than one screenname you use, you can alias them together in PT3 and then all of the data will be combined in the database, and HoldemLuck should display combined data. To alias two screennnames together, go to the general tab of the Texas Holdem tab in PT3 for whatever s/n you want to be the master. At the top left of the reports tab there's a box that says Aliases, under which is a blue "Edit" link. Click that link and add your other screen name as an alias to the master and all of your data will be combined. Do be patient though as this process can take quite a while if you have a lot of hands.

Hello alonalbert,

I just downloaded your program and really liked it, although I had some problems in the beginning (I'm on Vista 64 Bit, so no registry path).
After reviewing my sessions I found a hand where I didn't understand the EV calculation, maybe you can help me with it:

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (SB): $69.30
BB: $40.25
UTG: $80.30
CO: $50.00
BTN: $19.05

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is SB with 9Image 7Image
3 folds, Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3.00) 3Image 7Image 8Image (2 players)
Hero bets $2, BB raises to $6, Hero raises to $16, BB raises to $38.75 all in, Hero requests TIME, Hero calls $22.75

Turn: ($80.50) QImage (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: ($80.50) 5Image (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $80.50
Hero shows 9Image 7Image (a pair of Sevens)
BB shows 8Image AImage (a pair of Eights)
BB wins $77.50
(Rake: $3.00)

Despite the fact that my call maybe wasn't that great Holdem Luck says I had an EV of -$19.96.
However, I did a EV calculation by myself and I found out my call had only an EV of -$0.625 (my equity was 27.5% so EV=.275 * ($3+$16+$38.75) + (1 - .275) * -$22.75)

As I said I don't understand the EV calculation of Holdem Luck, I hope you can help me here or fix a bug if I found one.

OK, your equity is 27.5% on a $77.50 pot which is $21.29. You put $40.25 into the pot so your expected profit is -$40.25 + 21.29 = -$18.94. What you calculated is your EV of calling vs EV of folding and found that you were just about even money. HoldemLuck doesn't judge your actions, just evaluates the results. In this case, you were expected to loose 18.94 but actually lost 40.25 so the difference was $21.29.

Not sure why there's a $1 difference in the calculation, if you post the actual HH text (not converted) I'll be able to check the exact calculation but it's in the ball park.

Sorry, I made a typo there. Holdem Luck calculates the EV to -$18.96.

Anyway, thanks for explaining the calculation.
