unable to connect to pt 3

Postby colopoker » Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:30 am

Help, I purchased pt3 yesterday. I am trying to import observed hands from stars, and the error message I'm getting is " Fatal Exception during Auto-Import process: Unable to connect to database: PokerTracker 3 Database" . It seemed to work fine yesterday. Also, when I opened PT3, it asks me to make sure postsgral is running. How do I do that? Thank you.

Please upgrade to the most recent version of PT3: Beta 24. You'll want the version without PostgreSQL from our download page and see if that resolves this issue for you.

PostgreSQL is the database that PT3 uses to store data. You need to have PostgreSQL installed somewhere in order for PT3 to function properly -- otherwise PT3 couldn't save data anywhere. The without downloads exist for people who have already installed PostgreSQL and thus don't need to reinstall it when upgrading.

Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Start Services to start the PostgreSQL service. If you don't see the "Start Services" link or the PostgreSQL folder then you don't have PostgreSQL installed and you will need to download and install PokerTracker 3 Beta 24 with PostgreSQL from our download page.

If you need to reinstall PostgreSQL, you should follow this walkthrough.

if i uninstall postgresql, and download pt3 with postgresql, I wouldn't have to manually install postgresql rite? I'm having a difficult time doing this.

For the most part, but there are a few steps to the uninstallation that need to be followed. Please follow the steps of the guide I linked as it will walk you through everything. If you're stuck at a step just let me know where you're stuck and what's going wrong and I'll be glad to walk you through it.
