Synchronizing databases with two PC:s

Postby Lenny » Fri Jan 23, 2009 10:40 pm

Hi!
Is it possible to synchronize the databases if you use PT on two computers? Is it possible to use Windows Lve Sync or any similar SW?
Whitch directory/directories should i sync in that case?
Best regards

As I said in response to your other post, you'd want to run the sync only when the database is stopped, otherwise the resulting copy may not be functional.

The PostgreSQL database is located in the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\ folder and can also get very large. Expect roughly 1G per 100k hands, so the amount of data you'd need to be syncing wouldn't be trivial either.

If you're using a local network, you're best off just having one computer be your server and the other be the client, the only thing you can't do then is import on both computers at once. See this post for a walkthrough on how to set up networking for PostgreSQL.
