Error during Installation

Postby baleksa » Wed Feb 18, 2009 3:17 pm

Hello,

Sorry if this is a repeat, I searched the forum and didn't see it anywhere.

The following message was recorded to a notepad in the Postgresql directory during installation.

The files belonging to this database system will be owned by user "SYSTEM".
This user must also own the server process.

The database cluster will be initialized with locale English_United States.1252.
The default text search configuration will be set to "english".

initdb: directory "C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.3/data" exists but is not empty
If you want to create a new database system, either remove or empty
the directory "C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.3/data" or run initdb
with an argument other than "C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.3/data".

I turned off my UAC, so didn't think that was the issue.

Thanks,

Brian

you need to delete the enter C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3 folder and then reinstall because it's telling you that folder has files in it, probably from a previous install attempt.
