I want to share my datebase from two computers!

Postby LouisB » Sat Feb 21, 2009 2:22 am

Hi,
I've been using PT3 from my laptop for the last few months, I have registered already.
I recently got a new desktop, and I was wondering if it was possible to set it so that weither if I play on my laptop or desktop, my hands get imported into tracker.
I play on the ongame network, and both of my computers are on wireless connections to my router.
Thanks in advance!

You have two options:

(1) Put the database on an external hard drive that you share with both machine (tutorial here).

or

(2) Put the database on one machine (probably the desktop) and have it run all of the time and the laptop import to it over the network (tutorial here.

Personally I'd use method (2) but some people prefer method (1); it depends on your own personal needs though.

I have a router though... so will the second option work?
First thing the link says is "this will not work behind a router" !
Thanks

Louis,

I believe you misread the comment: it says this will not work if you are not behind a router.

That is, it only works if you are behind a router. Since you're behind a router, this will work fine.
