PT3 don't open really

Postby geomania » Thu Mar 05, 2009 11:56 am

PT3 seems to open but the emblem doesn't show up and nothing happens after i click it to open. If i do it again, it says that PT3 is already operating. I look at my task manager and it's not there. I've seen the post of the personn which have the same problem and i have cut off my firewall and my virus software. Nothing do it. Can you help me please.

It seems most likely that the issue had to do with the database server (PostgreSQL) not being allowed to run properly from your anti-virus/firewall. I'm not sure why it wouldn't allow it to work with the anti-virus/firewall disabled and not uninstalled, but that's something you'll need to take up with that company, as it's not something I can help you with.

Hello

I have similiar problems. My internet protection (Fsecure 8.) got an upgrade, and after that PT3 does not open.
I have tried disabling firewall etc. but PT3 does still not start.
I did find an postresql error on event viever

EET FATAL: could not create any TCP/IP sockets

I contacted f-secure and they can't really help because "if a third party software has a problem, we cant help you with that. You have to take it up with them" Basicly what kraada answered here. This is not very nice...

I've spent hours trying everything i can think of to solve this. Some help would really be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Try uninstalling Fsecure and see if it works properly then. If it doesn't, it's not Fsecure's fault.

Sometimes reinstalling PostgreSQL can also fix these issues; there's a good walkthrough on that available here.

Ok

I removed Fsecure from my comp and PT3 works properly once more.

So now we know that it is FSec that wont allow PT3 to start.

According to finnish poker forums, I am not the only one experiencing this problem.
So, how do i get FSec to allow PT# to work?

Thanks

Honestly I'm not sure. Clearly it's blocking PostgreSQL from functioning properly but since I don't use FSecure I can't go into it and see if there's a setting that can be changed. Other than talking to their customer service, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Hi,

I also have F-Secure and have the same problem to launch Poker Tracker 3. But it's strange because, even if F-Secure is desactivated, Poker Tracker sometimes can't be launched. 2 .exe files are in the tasks menu and are running, but Poker Tracker doesn't appear....

Don't know for sure if F-Secure is the problem, but for sure this problem appeared after the up date of F-Secure...

Thanks in advance for help.

I have one more thought to try:

Go to "C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc" and open the "hosts" file with notepad. Scroll to the bottom and enter "127.0.0.1 localhost" (without the quotes) on its own line. Save the file, then restart the PostgreSQL service, then attempt to start up PT3 and see if it works then.

Hi,

The hosts file already has the line you asked, and then after there are the lines from Spybot.

For information, before, I had to stop the postgre.exe files which were running in the tasks menu after Windows starts, to start Poker Tracker. It worked well.
Now, it doesn't work anymore. 2 PokerTracker.exe are running but nothing on the screen.

I am now nearly sure F-Secure isn't the problem, I tried many times when F-Secure was desactivated... no improvment...

Should there be 2 pokertracker.exe files ?

Thanks.
