New Build - 0.14

Postby alonalbert » Tue Mar 10, 2009 6:30 pm

Hi all

Sorry for not being too responsive the past few months, been real busy in real life.

The ICM experiment did not work out well, the calculation I used was not good and it introduced several other problems so I reverted it.

I also fixed a couple of crash bugs.

This should work out of th box but if you have problems, try reloading all hands from the File menu.

There is one issue that I see happening to some people where the Date/Time format is incorrect. I can't find the source for this problem as I already explicitly format the date in the proper form regardless of locale.

Everytime I try to run holdemluck using the auto configure it says

"Failed to connect to date erver:Can't find poker tracker 3 default database"

Do you have to do it manually?

Is there directions somewhere that explaines how to set up?

@perrio
Start PokerTracker and click DATABASE -> DATABASE MANAGEMENT
Under the "Database-Info" Tab you will find the details of your Database. Use them for the manual configuration of HoldemLuck.

@alonalbert
It works without errors for me now. Thanks for this nice app.

The default is 'dbpass' (no quotes). If this password does not work for you, you can disable password authentication by following the directions of this tutorial.

Firstly, thank you alonalbert for a wonderful program! It analyzed the 181,000 hands in my database very quickly.

I wanted to ask you, and any other developer of software like this (e.g advis0r) a question. I am sorry if it has been asked elsewhere. Why does this program, and others, just focus on hands where you end up all in? Wouldn't it provide a much better indicator of luck if it analysed all hands where there is a showdown? Out of my 181,000 hands, only 0.6% of them had me all in (1183 hands); whilst these are obviously the largest pots, it misses out on a huge number of hands where you get lucky or unlucky but didn't end up all in. E.g. Yesterday I flopped a set but got unlucky when my opponent rivered a straight; we didn't end up all in because there was a 4 card flush on the board. Your program misses this sort of hand and it happens a lot.

I just looked in my Pokertracker database and using the filter "Went to Showdown", out of the 181,000, I went to showdown 7,791 times, or 4.2% of the time. So there will be 5 times as much data to crunch, but with your program I would be willing to wait longer.

Cheers :D

EV functionality will be built into PT3 at some point at which time you'll be able to do all of these sorts of calculations within PT3 directly. HoldemLuck/TourneyLuck is a stopgap measure (though a good one, and one for which we are very grateful, don't get me wrong :) ), and once EV stats are buildable in PT3, these sorts of analyses should be possible without too much trouble.
