Postby jimmyfloyd18 » Sun Mar 15, 2009 7:58 am

Stuck at the first step of "After PostgreSQL is installed" tutorial, there is no options available on the drop down tab for the OBDC entry to use section.
any help appreciated

Are you installing PT3? That sounds like a PTv2 error as you don't need to set ODBC entries in PT3 anywhere that I'm aware of.

I've moved this thread to the PTO forum then so that Mike will see it and get back to you.

ptmike, i had the same problem with the missing odbc entry.
I followed your hint of installing the old postgres version.
I chose a new localhost, another accountname and password. now that odbc entry appears perfectly, but an error windows appears, stating: Error connecting to the hand history database. 0- transaction already connected.
Apparently that error message alternates with the "101 SQL state 08001. Fatal: pword authentication failes for user: postgres2" error warning. Although i was "sure" that i typed in all fields correctly, where can i find the username pw, localhost settings i made during the installation of postgres? Or is there a different reason it doesnt work?
Any help?
Thank you

so, somehow i couldnt edit my post above, although i am logged in. sorry for that.
And even more surprising and surely showing acute symptoms of dumb user syndrom, i rebootet my pc twice, chose the standard "5432 postgres postgres" settings - and the conversion worked.
I hope postgres will develop into a transparent and super-easy-to-use program one day ;)
