Can't install PostgreSQL 8.3

Can't install PostgreSQL 8.3

I can't install postgreSQL 8.3 because when it asks password during installation I can't get past that phase. If I click next it asks password. If I put default password or anything it says wrong password.

Problem is I have already uninstalled postgres so I don't have any folders to edit pg_hba.conf file. I have tried to disable all features of postgres on services tab, have deleted postgres folders from c:/Documents and Settings and have cleaned registry. Still it asks password on installation and I can't get past that. So what do I do next?

Hi

I have huge problem trying to install PostgreSQL. When i choose password in the installation i get the error "invalid username specified".
I ahve followed the guide and done the delete user by cmd thing...

I have Vista SP1.

What should i do?

Did everything work correctly with no errors when you did the uninstall?
Is the username it is trying to use "postgres"?
That guide has everything you need and should work if you follow it carefully.

Yes the uninstallationen worked proplely, i think..or not..
When I start PT3 i get the connect to database thing, so maybe it's not fully uninstalled? I used the guide for uninstall...what should i do?

I also deleted the reamaining folder...

I tried again to delete the user but i still can't set a password in the installation..

When you delete the user does it say it worked?
