postgreSQL wont connect?

Postby pokerkhunta » Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:15 am

i recently purchased pokertracker 3 and it started importing hand historys etc as i expected. Full Tilt gave me hand historys from tourneys i played a week or so back, with payouts incl, but pokerstars only showed tourneys which i didnt cash in? I wanted to look up some hands from a tourney i won but couldnt find anything. Maby its me needing to know a little more about the program, but it looks very confusing at a glance.
My main problem now is that i cant get into any prior hands at all, when i open the pt3 program this message pops up

pokertracker was unable to connect to any postgreSQL databases
please make sure you have postgreSQL running

and then the pt3 opens but says in red
in the box where players names go?

unable to connect to database
pokertracker 3 database

kinda frustrating buying a program that i cant get to work, im sure u understand.
I have found other posts on similar issues but cant really find a solution.
Please help me

Are you using Vista?
Are you running both PT3 and your poker site as Administrator? Right click the shortcut and select 'Run As Administrator'. This is different to being logged in as an Administrator.

ATTENTION: Windows VISTA users, you must read this...

What firewall and antivirus are you using?
Some of them are known to prevent postgres from running (F-Secure for instance).
Try disabling your firewall and starting PT3, see if that helps.

Otherwise Please select the last few files in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log (they're dated so just pick the recent ones), right-click and choose 'Send To Compressed/zipped Folder', then attach the zip file to a ticket on the Support system, and link to this thread in the reference field of the ticket so that we can investigate.
