question about backing up postgresql w/ pt3

Postby Gster » Mon May 04, 2009 3:42 pm

Suppose I just Copy - Paste the entire folder postgresql and the entire poker tracker 3 folder as well onto an external hardrive ... then suppose the original hardrive crashes and you copy - paste all the files from that external hardrive onto a new hardrive, would everything be working properly on that new drive? If not, what would you have to do to get everything working normally again? Hopefully by copy - pasting (space is not an issue) there could be a simple fix if any.
Thank you

No everything wouldn't be working properly straight away. If you want to make backups, the PT3 files you need are listed in this post and you can find directions on backing up and restoring a PostgreSQL database in the Database/Postgres FAQ.
