88 000 players in my database!!

Postby siash69 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 2:01 pm

Im sure there is a simple explanation for this but having upgraded to Build 4 and performed the recommended house keeping, I suddenly have just short of 88 000 players in my database!!!
I have the import observed hands box unticked and have only been using PT3 since December 2008 and am sure I haven't played this many players!! I play a lot every day, but not that much!! :D

Anyone and ideas please!! :D

If you play in big tournaments and import the summaries the players who have entries even though they don't have any hands are added to the database. There are plans to add an option to not import results from players with no hands, but I don't know when that feature will become available.

Can I manually remove any of the players? I know it will take a while, but a few here and there might whittle it down!! :D

Also if I was to exit from a tourney early which I sometimes do!! :D And close the game lobby down am I right in assuming that all the remaining players stats will show a loss as well or cease to be tracked ? If this is so then my stats, winnings and roi for them will be slightly misleading as they may go onto cash but it wont be recorded on my database. Is there a way I can continue to track the tourney other than having the table open and the observed hands box ticked, but I guess when the table is shut down due to the field size decreasing the tracking would cease anyway.

You can look in this thread if you want to find a manual way to purge these players; it does take a bit of work though.

Also, yeah, on FTP you would need to leave the lobby open. If you just leave the lobby open and minimized after you bust out when the tournament ends you'll get the full tournament summary; the summary is written when the tournament lobby is closed after you bust.

I just noticed that there is a "purge without hands" but as a previous poster found this does not work. Is it an error was was this option added so that it could be enabled when a further update to build 4 is released?

Any idea how long it will be before I can get rid of all these players without stats.

Having just bought the full version and now having all these players on the DB, it takes for ever to load and refresh, the HUD is very slow in updating and somewhat volatile.

can I uninstall it all and reinstall PT3 Build 4 and use my previous key code?

Slash,

We will definitely update the Purge w/o Hands function to include tournament players that lack hands but have tournament results, but I don't know when that will be available. If you follow the workaround I linked to above, that will remove those players from the database manually.

You could, if you'd prefer, uninstall and reinstall and you won't have any problem using your previous registration code. If you haven't though, I'd recommend running a full housekeeping on your database as that can speed things up significantly.

i checked the link out, but the poster said it wasnt a guaranteed option, so I thought I better play it safe and not try, it looks complicated!! Have you or do you know of anyone who has used this method?

I haven't done it myself, but I've read it over and it looks like it should work fine. You'll see that in the thread a few people have posted that it worked for them; it is complicated, I admit, but it will work if you just take your time and go through it step by step.
