HUD slows down performance tremendously

Postby Shakhtar91 » Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:14 am

Hello,
I use auto-import for FullTilt which slows down everything terribly. Have just done housekeeping, but it doesn't help. Can you suggest anything else to try? Thanks in advance

How many tables do you have open?

What are your computer specs? CPU, RAM, hard disk size and space?
Have you defragged your hard disk recently? This can make huge difference.
Stop the postgres service (Start > Programs > Postgres > Stop Service) before you defrag so that the postgres database files can be defragged too.

Make sure you don't have any old hand history files left behind.
With Full Tilt stopped, open the FTP\Hand History folder and see if there are any old .tmp files. If there are, remove them. These should be removed by the FT software when you close the table, but sometimes some get left behind and if too many build up it can cause problems for PT3.

Make sure that your HUD options are set to reasonable values and aren't preventing the cache being used.

Thanks for your advice. I have defrugged the disc and removed old.temp files. But it didn't help much. One more question: I have set Hand History Directory inside a FullTilt folder, but for some reason files are not stored there and moved to PT3 Processed files folder. I use auto-import constantly. Shall I do anything about it?

The HH files will be written there initially then moved by PT3 after it has imported the files. That's what is supposed to happen.
What version of PT3 are you using? (see the title bar)

Things shouldn't be that slow then.

Could you please enable logging (Configure --> Options --> Logging Enabled and restart PT3) and attempt to import while playing for one full orbit then attach the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\PokerTracker.log and C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\PokerTrackerHud.log files to a support ticket and we'll look into what could be causing this for you.

Is it possible to have HUD running only on tables I am playing and ignore those that I am just watching?

Not at this point in time.

You may want to try Beta 28 now that it's released though, there are quite a few bug fixes there, and some of those bugs could (and did) cause poor performance for some.
