postgresql running but cant connect

Postby gomerpylejr » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:10 pm

I recently reformatted my system partition and did a manual deletion of the postgresql service by doing the "sc delete" command and removing the folders, however it is still listed under Services as "PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3" and when attempting to start says "Could not start the PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3 service on Local Computer. Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure."

So then I installed PSQL again and it's running as "postgresql-8.3" under Services, starts and stops fine, but PT3 says it can not find a database to connect to.

I'm thinking it has something to do with a botched uninstallation of the previous database? Any ideas?

Did you change any of the configuration settings from the previous install? If you clear the [Databases] section in the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Data\Config\PokerTracker.cfg and restart PT3 you'll see a connection window to put your details in again; if you do that it should be able to connect to PostgreSQL properly (assuming you have PostgreSQL running successfully at the time).

I think I'm having the same problem. When I try opening poker tracker I get a pop up box that says Configure PostgreSQL Server with 4 fields to enter data into: Server, Database User, Port, and Password. Every field except Password is already filled in...what's my plan of action? I tried completing the steps described in the previous post but I'm not able to get it to work. Maybe I'm having a different problem...I'm not sure.

The default password is dbpass.
If that doesn't work, you can remove the need for postgres passwords: How To: Remove PostgreSQL Password
