PLease Help! Can't connect to my database!

Postby pinnryder » Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:53 am

I have a problem with PT3! It was working just fine the other day and then it started to make problems. First I couldn't see my stats under the genrell tab anymore and then I couldn't see the starting hands either. Everything was working fine, I could still enter results from my tournaments and could see and update the graph and winnings.
Then I searched the forums tried some things, nothing worked. so I reinstalled everything following this post: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=8047
And now I can't even start PT3 anymore. It says it can't connect to the database and I should check the information and I can't even start a new databse because it says the server is not responding.

Here the error when I start PT3:
Unable to connect to this databse. Please check configuration.

And here when I tried to open a new database in the pgAdmin:
Server doesn't listen
The server doesn't accept connections: the connection library reports
could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "127.0.0.1" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

I don't know what i can try anymore...

Are you running PT3 as Administrator? Did you reinstall PostgreSQL?

I did reinstall PostgreSQL.
I tried to let it run as admin but it requires a password and I have no idea what it could be...

Try these: dbpass, postgrespass, or svcPASS83.

For what are these passwords? To connect to postgressql or to run PT3 as administrator?
If they are for the latter than they don't work and following the tutorial doesn't help either, the error message stays the same...

The password to run PT3 as Administrator is whatever your Administrator password on the computer is; that one you should have set up when the computer was originally installed. We aren't going to know that password. The passwords I listed are for connecting as the postgres user to the PostgreSQL server.

So what you are saying is that the only way to get it to run again after the "update" (which should fix bugs), I need the admin password even though I'm logged in as the admin and even though it was running fine before the update.

So I have a worthless programm which I paid for and that I am not able to use anymore because of a problem your update caused. Nice...

PT3 has always needed to be run as administrator. It simply does it automatically now. If you put in the password you use to sign in to Windows, that box should go away.
