Which version of PostGre should I download?

I just downloaded pokertracker, and it prompts me to download it, but the link is broken. What should I do?

If you don't already have PostgreSQL (which it sounds like you don't) the best version to get is probably the latest - v9. You can download it from www.PostgreSQL.org by following the download link at the top right.
If you're using 64-bit Windows be sure to get the 64-bit version of PostgreSQL for optimum performance.

If you need help with the installation follow the install part of one of the guides in the Documentation - they refer to earlier versions of PostgreSQL but the setup is basically the same.
PT3 may still offer to install PostgreSQL for you the first time you run it, but if you've installed it yourself and the service is running (click Start, on XP click Run, and type "services.msc" - find PostgreSQL and set it to Automatic, and start it if it isn't already running) you can ignore that and just connect.

Hi , I have the 8.3 installed, is it really safe to upgrade to 9 ? Which version should we install, I can see that there's a 9.1 Beta 3, which v9.x.x is stable ?

Edit : ok, found the dl page, just to get confirmation 9.0.4-1 winx86-64 is ok for my Windows Seven 64bits ?

When I have installed PT3 it has install PSQL in the Programs Files (x86) looks like it's not 64bits version, right ?

64 bit versions do go in the (x86) directory. That version should work fine for you.

Just to be clear:

The 32-bit version of PostgreSQL will install itself in Program Files (x86) and the 64-bit version of PostgreSQL will install itself to Program Files. If you have your PostgreSQL installed in Program Files (x86) then you are using the 32-bit version.

Ok, so I'll dl the 32bits version and backup the db before upgrading.

I highly recommend the 64-bit version if you have a 64-bit operating system. It is much, much faster than the 32-bit versions.

I (still) didn't upgrade to 9x. I think I'll do it soon but I can't find a step by step pdf like the ones for uninstall/install for 8.3 and/or 8.4.

I have read in the pdf that when uninstalling current version which is 8.3, only the program will be uninstalled, and the folder with the db remains in the program files (x86) folder, how to move it to the 64bits C: Program File ?
Can I use 8.3 db in 9x or I need to reimport all hands that are in PT proceed folder ? I will install a 64bits version of Postgres how to deal with that. Do I need to convert the db ?

Please provide a step by step tutorial to install on 64bits Windows, lots of bundled PC runs Win Seven 64bits now, it's time to move to 9.x to welcome future PT4 !

If you have all of your hands you will probably find that the easiest thing to do is to create a new database and reimport them after installing 64-bit PostgreSQL 9.0.
However, if you have a very large database it will be faster to make a backup of your DB in your current version and then restore it into the new version.
The upgrade between major versions is the same regardless of which versions they are. Use the built-in Backup mechanism to make a backup of your database. Install the new PostgreSQL version manually - you can install alongside the existing version if you pick a different port number (e.g. you might want to use port 5490 for v9.0). Once you have created a new database in PT3 using the new service (so that PT3 is connected to it) you can restore your backup.

I'm trying to install Postgres 9 64bits to connect with PT4 Beta. It asks me for a windows password, I entered "dbpass" (I use the same password for PT3 and HEM Trial, is it ok ?) but this one don't work, I think it's the password for Postgres user on windows but I don't know it, must be defaut psw ?
