Importing lots of Tournaments to PT3

Postby Aceball » Sat May 03, 2008 2:48 pm

Hi there, thanks for the new PT3, looking forward to using it full time.

I am an almost exclusive tournament player, have thousands of MTTs and SNGS to import into PT3, unfortunately, Pokerstars will only send last 200 in a large file, so Im wondering what the best way to import the remaining tourneys is.

I have almost all the tournaments in email format from when PT2 would automatically request each tourney individually, is there going to be support for importing tourney summaries from email soon? If thats coming soon, I'll just wait for it, rather than manually importing each one.

Would it work to install PT2 again, load all the all the summaries from email or my old DB, then to convert that database to PT3?

Any other suggestions for us tournament players? Thanks, and I look forward to the new and improved PT.

Forgot to mention, the above post is regarding Tournament RESULTS! I've already imported the hands from the handhistory folder.

Thanks,

This will not work. The PT2 conversion utilities does not copy over tournament summaries.

We are hoping to get email support added for tournament summaries for the initial commercial release. If it does not make it then it will be added shortly after release.

I would simply open a next text file in Notepad and copy/paste all of the tournament summaries into this one file then manually import. It shouldnt take too long should it?

Best regards,

Derek

Is there any plan on allowing users to transfer tournament results from PT2 to PT3? I have all the hand history files, but the only record of tournament results I have is what I entered into PT2.

Yes, tournament summaries will be imported from PT2.

The automatic messages pstars sends just sends you your results (it doesn't list where everyone else finished). Not sure if that matters to you, but if you're as anal as I am, you'll want everyone's finish position (so you can get some idea of their ROI etc from your own db)

To do this, you'll have to request your last 200 tournament summaries. Once you get that email, import it and wait an hour. Once that's done, click "tournaments" then "enter results" -- you should see a little check box saying "only tournaments needing results"

I have that screen open on the top of the computer, then the pstars lobby on the bottom of the screen. I then just go through and request each tournament by number that I'm missing (takes a loooong time).

I now am saving all of the tournament summaries in a special folder so should I ever need to switch databases, I can just import from that directory rather than have to repeat the process...

Yeah, requesting each tourney was what Iw as starting to do...but I literally have hundreds, so takes FOREVER.

Feint, do you mean you are saving the tourney summary to a text file in a special folder for the future? How do you do that? Thanks

Please save all of your summaries into a large text file.

It appears that we will need to make one more database change prior to the commercial release and I would hate for you to have to re-do this entire process again. :(

I copy about 20 tournaments to one text file, then open a new notepad document and copy the next twenty. Perhaps its just superstition, but it *seems* to me that the import goes much faster if I have many smaller files (~5mb) rather than one giant file (100mb). I also seem to be able to still use other computer resources with small imports -- where if PT3 is crunching on a 100mb tournament summary, everything grinds to a halt.

Think i have to wait to the automatic email support , bc i play like 50-60 sngs a day now, thats a lot of tourney summaries to do it manually.
