Urgent problem! postgres.exe uses 50% cpu

Postby chusoooo » Thu Aug 23, 2012 10:15 am

Hi, The problem is that when I start importing hands postgres.exe process uses 50% of CPU constantly.

To check if it was a configuration problem antivirus/firewall, i disable the antivirus and windows firewall but the problem persists.
Attachment 2 images with antivirus / firewall disabled. (I checked postgres.exe, pgctl.exe, pt4.exe and pt4hud.exe run as administrator)

pt1: Before starting the import
pt2: After the import started

Any idea?

Thanks.

What are the specs on your machine? How big is this database?

It's entirely possible (and somewhat likely) that what's going on here is that old hands are being processed by NoteTracker and once NoteTracker has gone through all of your data this will calm down. However, the NoteTracker process is set up so that it should not interfere with your actual playing experience - is this causing any lag when you do play?

Procesador: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6750 2.66 Ghz
6 gb Ram
Windows 7 x64
Disco ssd

As I find out how big is the database?
It would be unusual that the problem is NoteTracker because the database is old and the problem is new, Besides that postgres.exe gets 50% ONLY when I start "get hands while playing".
I did not make new notes.

Thanks.

Click Tools -> NoteTracker and go to the Status page and look at what it says for hands processed there in the cash and tournament sections. This really sounds like it's just NoteTracker doing its thing (NT automatically starts when you get hands while playing and it's fairly PostgreSQL intensive as it has to get the hands which are tested and write notes if necessary).

Cash, Status: 3.6M of 3.6M hands processed (100% complete)
T, Status: 7877 of 7877 hands processed (100% complete)

One solution might be to limit the amount of CPU can use postgres?

Postgres shouldn't be using tons of CPU time unless it's doing something.

Please restart PT4 using the Logging Enabled link on your Start Menu and reproduce this problem. Then please send us the PokerTracker4.log file via a support ticket so that we can investigate this further for you. You can find this file by clicking File -> Open User Data Folder in the main PT4 window. The file we need is the text file called PokerTracker that's in the folder that appears. Once we have the log we'll be able to see if anything else strange is going on here that isn't otherwise obvious.

The log file is very big, aprox 11.7 Mg, no cant atach.
I had problems with the HUD in the latest versions. In version 4.02.1 works perfectly but not in the following. But the problem is independent of the PokerTracker version.

If you compress your log file it should attach just fine.
