Connection to Database

Hi,

When i am trying to install my PT4 "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration" appears. I know this is already mentioned in the FAQs but somehow i cannot solve this problem. Sorry to bother but i am new to this programms. Hope someone may give me advice (using windows8 if helpful to know).

Is PostgreSQL installed on your system?

Yes it is. Im tryin now to uninstall and istalling new, as i read it could solve the problem.

Make sure you install the 9.0 version and check to make sure it's running in Start -> services.msc -- once it's running you should be able to connect to it, but if it's not running then you need to get it installed and running first before you can connect.

i reinstalled it now. restarted the pc and added it to the start menu. but as i see in the task managerit is not running. how can i make it do so?

Click Start, type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Locate PostgreSQL in the list and click on it. If it's started it'll say it's running. If it's not, right click on it click properties and choose startup type Automatic - that will set it to start when your computer logs in. You can start it also by clicking Start. If it doesn't start and gives an error, tell me what the error is.

oh man.. what am i doin wrong? it does not appear in that list of programs. may the installation be incomplete?

im not able to uninstall copmletely. data file cannot be removed.

and by installing following appears: Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. The database cluster initialisation failed.

the error by trying to uninstall is: Error stopping service postgresql-x64-9.0
