Import problem

Postby miso » Sun Dec 28, 2014 3:30 pm

Hello.

I have problems with import (my comp crashed yesterday, I had to reindex the database). It import only one hand then it stops, always some kind of an error (usually always different, this one is the last one:

Unable to import hand (#6983035000135). Reason: Error: Unable to execute query: Fatal Error; Reason: Error: (ERROR: could not write to hash-join temporary file: No space left on device CONTEXT: PL/pgSQL function "update_cash_cache" line 8 at FOR over SELECT rows )

If I resintall pt4, will I have to import all hands again?

That suggests that your hard disk may be nearly full - can you free up some space?
If your disk isn't full then the files that make up your database in PostgreSQL may be corrupted. If you create a new database and set it to be Active (Database > Database Management) can you import hands there?

Reinstalling PT4 is very unlikely to make any difference for this kind of issue and uninstalling it may cause further complications so I wouldn't suggest that yet.

No hard disc is not full.

I made a new database and it works, everything seems to be fine now ( in terms of import and hud)!

Can I save my old database somehow? It has a huge value.... Maybe rebulid cache?

How large is the database? The error is saying it couldn't create the temporary table required for cache updating because there was no more free space.

Old database is 120 GB. I have 50 GB free left.

I tried to set the old database as Active and import worked only for two hands then it stopped (no error this time)
Set it back to new database and everything worked fine.

Could I repair my old database?

You can try rebuilding its cache, but do expect it to take several hours, perhaps even a day or more depending on your system specs.

How long did you let it run? It may take a while to even show the progress bar.

That doesn't always mean as much as you might think, though you should have the progress bar by then at least.

Can you export hands from that database successfully?
